Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) is a proposed regulation, forming part of the European Commission’s new Digital Finance package. The Act focuses on the issuance of crypto-assets and the provision of crypto-asset services, and has ambitions to unify laws relevant to cryptocurrency businesses across the European Union.
The Digital Finance package aims to give a necessary clarity and support for crypto-asset services while emphasising consumer safety and financial stability. This package also includes new EU AML Directives and proposals for a new EU anti-money laundering authority.
